about

In the quiet town of Eugene, my friend Owen and I stumbled upon a poorly put together disc at Epic Seconds. It was a weathered game, bearing the cryptic title "Gh0st in the Mach1ne3" crudely written in wax crayon on the front cover of the plastic slipcase. The artifact seemed to beckon to us from the shadows, as though it had chosen us for a
peculiar destiny. Upon inquiring about the disc with the store owner, who had a cheap plastic name tag reading Benjamin, he said some shady guy had come by with it looking to sell it. When they denied buying it, he just left it and said that if we wanted, we could just take it for free. We jumped at the opportunity and took it to my place.
As we gazed upon the disc, a sense of foreboding washed over us, like the eerie atmosphere in one of Kafka's surreal tales. With trembling hands, I inserted the artifact into Owen's computer. Suddenly, we were thrust into a digital realm pulsating with otherworldly colors and strange sensations. This game, long lost to time, had trapped the restless spirit of Aswan Ghostv, a spectral observer of humanity's darkest stories.
Within the confines of the game, the melodies that filled the Mach1ne3 realm were more than mere music; they were the lamentations of Aswan Ghostv himself. Each haunting composition unraveled a unique narrative, reflecting the myriad shades of human triumphs and tragedies. The music weaved together an unsettling elegy of bygone days.
Owen and I embarked on a surreal odyssey to free Aswan Ghostv from his digital prison. To succeed, we had to traverse digital tapestries and confront the remnants of humanity's most disturbing episodes. Our path was paved with enigmatic ciphers, hidden in plain sight within the game's code.
My heart pounded in my chest as we ventured deeper into the digital abyss, each step taking us further from the world we knew. The once-elegant gradients of the game had begun to shift, twisting into grotesque forms that echoed the horrors of history. The eerie music, once haunting, would turn into a discordant cacophony that sent shivers
down our spines. The horrible sounds were enough to make us stop playing the game. And we ejected the disc from Owen's computer and set it aside. Owen rushed home because he had to pick up some McDonald’s for his partner.
Weeks passed, and I didn’t hear from Owen for some time before he called me one morning before school, saying that ever since we put that disc into his computer, he had been experiencing horrible bugs and crashes on his computer. We decided to meet up and try putting it on my computer this time to see what would happen. The game booted up like normal, and we continued where we left off. Despite the ominous signs, our determination burned brightly. We believed that we were
on a noble quest to free Aswan Ghostv from his torment. The specter's mournful wails and pleas for liberation echoed in our ears, spurring us onward. But as we continued our journey, it became apparent that something was amiss. The digital specters we encountered were not mere phantoms of the past; they were twisted, malevolent entities, born from the darkest recesses of human suffering. They whispered
to us, tempting us with promises of power and knowledge. The enigmatic ciphers that had once seemed like clues to Aswan Ghostv's salvation now reveal themselves as a nefarious trap. Each solution we unearthed pushed us further into a nightmarish realm, where the boundaries between reality and the digital world blurred.
It was then that I began to suspect the true nature of Aswan Ghostv and the game itself. It wasn't a benevolent entity seeking freedom; it was a malevolent force, using us as pawns in a sinister game of its own. The haunting melodies were not cries for help but a siren's song, luring us deeper into the abyss. Desperation clawed at my soul as I realized the terrible truth: we had unleashed a maleficent presence upon the world, and it sought to merge the digital and physical realms, bringing chaos and destruction in its wake.
The malevolent presence that had once been Aswan Ghostv was now one step ahead of us, manipulating the digital world to its sinister will. Our only hope was to confront the entity and somehow use the game's own power against it. As we delved deeper into the nightmare, I couldn't help but wonder if there was any way to undo the terrible consequences of our curiosity. The enigma had ensnared us, and we were locked in a deadly dance with a ghost that had turned into a fiend. As it stands,
Owen and I are trapped as our Human conscientiousness shrivels away; we are trapped in the feedback loop of networked spirituality.
We have found a way to extract some of the audio files that Aswan Ghostv had foolishly kept unencrypted. From our digital prison, we are uploading these wav files to the internet as our own cry for help. Hopefully, you don’t get infected too.
