"We will not be silent. We are your bad conscience. The White Rose will not leave you in peace!"
2.
"I am, now as before, of the opinion that I did the best that I could do for my nation. I therefore do not regret my conduct and will bear the consequences that result from my conduct."
3.
"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."
4.
5.
“I've just been playing the Trout Quintet on the phonograph. Listening to the andantino makes me want to be a trout myself. You can't help rejoicing and laughing, however moved or sad you feel, when you see the springtime clouds in the sky, the budding branches, moved by the wind, in the bright early sunlight."
6.
"Are there still people today who never weary of directing all their thinking and all their energy, single-heartedly, to one cause?"
7.
"I could weep at how mean people are and how they betray their fellow creatures, perhaps for the sake of personal advantage. It is enough to make a person lose heart sometimes. I often wish I lived on a Robinson Crusoe island."
8.
"Stand up for what you believe in even if you are standing alone."
9.
"Who would have thought it possible that a tiny flower could preoccupy a person so completely that there simply wasn't room for any other thought."
10.
"If everyone waits until the other man makes a start, the messengers of avenging Nemesis will come steadily closer."
11.
"Laws change. Conscience doesn't."
12.
"We have very little time. The People's Court is in session, and the hearing is already under way. We must prepare ourselves for the worst."
13.
"It's the reductionist approach to life: if you keep it small, you'll keep it under control. If you don't make any noise, the bogeyman won't find you. But it's all an illusion, because they die too, those people who roll up their spirits into tiny little balls so as to be safe. Safe?! From what? Life is always on the edge of death; narrow streets lead to the same place as wide avenues, and a little candle burns itself out just like a flaming torch does. I choose my own way to burn."
14.
"An end in terror is preferable to terror without end."
15.
"How can we expect fate to let a righteous cause prevail when there is hardly anyone who will give himself up undividedly to a righteous cause?"
16.
"How can we expect righteousness to prevail when there is hardly anyone willing to give himself up individually to a righteous cause. Such a fine, sunny day, and I have to go, but what does my death matter, if through us, thousands of people are awakened and stirred to action?"
17.
"One must have a tough mind, and a soft heart."
18.
"Please, don't worry. I'd do the same again.."
19.
"The imperialist ideology of force, from whatever side it comes, must be shattered for all time."
20.
"I can't be overwhelmingly happy. I'm never free for a moment day and night from the uncertainty in which we live these days, which excludes any carefree plans for tomorrow and casts a shadow over all the days to come."
21.
"Trucks came to pick up the children at the mental hospital. The other children asked where they were going. "They're going to heaven," said the nurses. So the children got on the truck singing. You think I wasn't raised right, because I felt pity for them?"
22.
"I believe I could find something ridiculous even in the saddest moment, if necessary. It has nothing to do with being superficial. It's a matter of joy in life."

about

A tribute to Sophie Scholl

Sophia Magdalena Scholl [9 May 1921 – 22 February 1943] was a German student and co-founder of the 'White Rose' non-violent resistance group in Nazi Germany.

The core members of the White Rose were arrested by the Gestapo on 18 February 1943 having been found distributing anti-war leaflets at the University of Munich [LMU].

Following a show trial the hands of the Nazi 'Volksgerichtshof', Sophie, her brother Hans and Christoph Probst were convicted of high treason and executed by guillotine on 22 February 1943.

During the trial, no defendants were given any opportunity to speak; Sophie interrupted the judge multiple times.
